The line was once part of a larger network, but time has led to the abandonment of some branches, leaving a core operational line. The route is a joint venture between the Burlington Northern and Union Pacific, with the Adriana County Railroad shortline operating its own section of the track. This setup provides for a variety of different operational possibilities.
